Experience with the Zoom H2?

Creep

Milk It
Hi,

I've recently bought a Zoom H2, and am trying to use it to record drums. I placed it just above the cymbals, however when I play the recording back, it sounds as if the Zoom was a few metres away, making it sound in the distance and way to echoey.

Has anyone experience in recording drums with this recorder? Should I try again putting the Zoom closer? I'm thinking of putting it near the snare drum and opening both mic's up to the snare and bass drum.

I don't have access to the kit right now so I figured I'd ask here and see if anyone can help me before I go back :)

Most demos of this shows it 2' in front of the set with the X/Y mics about at the top level of the toms...Ive used mine only as a backup for the other system...and as a mic for the HD camcorder when I do videos of live shows.

Ah alright, no worries. I reckon mine was too far and high.

Anyone else got any suggestions?
