This is probably a question with an obvious answer, but this would work in a non-wireless setting too, right? I have a DAW, a router with long CAT 5 cables, and a laptop that I use to surf with in a totally different room. I'm thinking that it is possible. Is it? Thanks.

COOL!

Can't wait til i get outta my 1 bedroom apt. into a space that might necessitate such toys... :-)

Seems to me like it would be. That'd probably be cheaper than buying the wireless hardware.

This is too friggin' brilliant. I can't wait to try it, once I upgrade to XP Pro. Really cool.

Funny

It's interesting how different groups have different perceptions about what is available/can be done.

I am a computer professional and a musical beginner.

I have just started to think about recording stuff. My computer is in a different room than my keyboard, and the first thing I thought of was to take a laptop into my music room and use Remote Desktop to contol the DAW.

My only question is how to pipe the MIDI from my keyboard, or any of the mic'ed instruments and voices back to DAW PC without running cables all over the place.

After you just started stripping down your DAW to get it even half-stable? You wann a add more cookies and nibs to it? hmmmmm. And then factoring in an another computer and its stability issues? No thanks. I wish I could get rid of my DAW completely but clients would freak out. Like bro, you don't got protools? How can you possibly record without it? Beleive it or not I'd rather have an Hd24 (with higher quality converters) than a full blown protools system. Radars are looking like the way to go. Stability combined with random access and decent sound quality. I don't mind mixing with computers quite as much, but tracking is a nightmare. Sorry dude i missed that take, the computer froze. shit, once is too much. Tracking with computers is bad m'kay.

I don't have any issues. But you have to make sure it's tweaked right. No big deal.

I don't miss my stand alone at all.
