Hello people,

I'm totally new to PC recording...as of yesterday :)

I received my Evolution MK-449C keyboard yesterday and have been messing around with it a little. I had it working through Cubase SX yesterday, but now it seems that it isn't even registering at all.

I have not done anything different to my PC as in deleting or uninstalling stuff.

If you know how to fix this problem and can explain in simpleton terms for me, I may even KISS you!

Thanks in advance! :)

First of all, if you havent already, have you tried checking the cables to make sure they've not come loose?

If they are connected properly, go to Devices > MIDI Device manager > Check that the Evolution keyboard is active in there.

If thats right, check that your record enable is on the midi track within Cubase, if it is and you still have no sound....well....i dont really know...

Good luck!

Here are links to two good articles on midi basics - part one and part two. They may be a little too basic for you, but we can all use a refresher course now and then...

Thanks for the replies.

Those links look useful :)

I've been into the Device Manager bit of Cubase and still had no luck actually hearing the keyboard through it. I suppose it just takes time to figure out...not that I expected to get it delivered, plug in and record number one hits.

I'll continue messing around with it and see what happens! :)

Thanks again lads.

Right, my keyboard is registering with Cubase, as in I can see the indicator moving every time I hit the keys.

I can't hear sound.....as far as I know I haven't muted any tracks or anything.

Please help!!!

If you have one of the newer versions of Cubase with built in soft synths, place one of them in the track.

If not, go here and do a search for Triangle II, Synth 1, Free Alpha, etc --- these are free soft synths that are yours for the download. Unzip and place in the Cubase track that is showing midi action but is not making any noise.
