Good song.
Let me know what you think of the arrangement/mix/anything.....

Hard to say without the bass. Could use a more elaborate drum track and some harmonies to give this that "produced" sound. The song itself is excellent as usual, vox sounds particularly fine on this. Nice guitar tone as well.

Are the drums your Yamaha Keyboard? If so, there are probably some fills you could put in there.

Very nice tune, Gerry.

Thanks David :)

- glad you like the song.....

- not Yamaha drums... These drums are put together in Cakewalk (using a mouse/cut and paste). I'm still learning some of the keyboard functionality, it has a five track recorder though so I should be able to do something. They have only two fills per style and they are usually some over the top fills so I need to write them myself or edit them somehow..... ;) :)

- hope you're warming up a bit down there....

:) :D :) :D

So far so good. It's catchy. I'd like to hear it with bass, as that will fill it up some.

If you want some slightly better drums, I can do them in DFHS....real samples that might have a bit more depth. Just let me know, and I'll give them a go.

A splendid idea. :) Not only real samples but a better pattern. What I do:

I cheat :D

I find a midi file, slow it down or speed it up, find a few good measures and fills and copy/paste. Granted, I have only done a few non-classical tunes in my life, so I dont know anything about drums. Works for me. ;)

Sounds nice as always ;)

Heard a pretty bad click at 3:50.
Can't wait to hear the bass put to it. Vocals are a bit to low in places for me even without the bass. No point in getting all fussy about it until the bass is in though.

Very nice performance and song :)

Gerry,
Another Steele classic. I love the slight drone quality of some of the notes common through the chords.
It does need bass but the bassless mix hangs well. Can't really do anything more refined mixing until Mike makes his mark. The lyrics and delivery are great.
Is this still the mic'd amp set up? The guitar sounds is a change from recent cuts but a good tone for the song.
Can't wait to hear the next step - I'll download this regardless - I can't have an incomplete G&M collection.

Dogman - thank you sir...adding the bass is definitely gonna change this for the better. And thanks for the offer on the drums ;) I'm going try and work out something using a combination of keyboard and midi. Drums are my weakest area. I'm just beginning to up the volume so you can hear them in my songs  .

DavidK - I have a whole bunch of midi drum files and midi songs that I "borrow" from too :D . But I need to work on using more parts...

Freudian Slip - thanks FS. I have to get Mike over to record bass on a bunch of songs then remix them all... At 3:50 I hear finger noise on the strings (arghhh) - is that what you are hearing?

Ray - thank you for the kind words... Yes this is the mic on cab version of the guitars. That drone seems to be in the bottom end - I eq'd a bit out and may reduce it more once the bass is mixed in....

:) :D :) :D

Man for some reason it aint loading for me. I'll check back later.

I don't think so. It's actually right as it switches from 3:50 to 3:51 on the right and its a pop sound. I hear the fingers sliding on the strings now that you point it out right before the pop. It's right as you start the last run downward on the solo. Who knows it might only be in the mp3 version?
You may want to listen online if your not already.

OH , where is my post?
Shit, I wrote for about half an hour and it was almost two lines in bad English and everything just disappeared when I submitted it.
Anyway this is nice IDO.
Get some bass-line and new drum track. The rest is just perfect. Solo is excellent.
Those click and pops are there but I suppose they will disappear eventually.
Well done.

Listening as i type. Vocals sound great as always. Smooth and spot on delivery. The guitars sound nice and they have a nice warmth to them. As far as mix advice goes i'm on a new set up now and i'm dealing with a bit of a learning curve. I saw some complaints about the drums, if i didnt' read them i don't think i would of even noticed as the song itself certainly holds it's own. OK song just stopped and now won't let me play again. I'll try hearing the later bit of this after a restart or after it lets me download. Excellent job man.

Take care

Gary

Pretty nice song. Almost a tear-jerker. ;)

Sounds pretty good so far. Vocals and backups sound great. Nice guitar tones. So far, so good. I don't know much about programmed or sampled drums (I play real drums :p ), but these could use some jazzing up - however you guys do it. They sound good enough, they just need some 'life'. Some fills, some texture, etc. But like mentioned already I probably wouldn't have even really noticed had I not read some of the replies already. Overall another good song. Can't wait to hear it finished. :)

Vocal and lead gtr are excellent. Very pro sounding. That lead gtr sounds so good I wish it was playing some kind of sparse simple part the rest of the time like lower-midrange-ish bass line.

I'd use just one of the rhythm gtr parts, or have two but retrack one of them to get the rhythm more consistently tight between the parts.

I hate fake drums :p .

Hey ido,

You asked about the arrangement, and I think it's sweet. The song has a touch of melancholy to it, in spite of the sentiment your expressing lyrically. I like that! :)

Nice guitar sounds. A bit jangly for me in spots, but fits the song.

Excellent singing. Very heartfelt.

Thanks for sharing!

Chris

Sweet Tune man.

Cool licks on the guitar, nice sound on the guitar as well.

The drums could get some more life into it as mentioned, but as a scetch its more than enough.

Cool lyrics and vox.

A splendid classic

Really enjoyable to listen to, that bass will make this one swing great,
Will you be using a rickenbacker? :D

thanks for sharing man :)

Thanks for the feedback!

sikter - sorry about your post - it's happened to me and it's very frustrating. Hopefully this post will work for me. Anyway, thanks for the kind words....

gbav - Thanks Gary, glad you liked it. New setup? Let us know all about it.....

Greg_L - Thanks for the positive feedback. They didn't have that classification on Soundclick - but it's close to the c-word...The rhythm guitar is Kramer Pacer, lead is EC Strat with a touch of that built in tone boost to take away the twang and add some dirt. Hoping to eventually put better drums down for this. Live drums from HSB at some point....

Timothy - Thanks for the listen and the kind words.... I may add some more licks later when I add bass... I was thinking about it but was afraid it might crowd the vocals. It would have to be subtle as you said.... I hate programming fake drums.... I'm just lazy though.....lol

bigmahon - Thanks, glad you liked the arrangement. It's a bit melancholy isn't it? I'm not sure it's powerful enough vocally, but I was watching my vocal levels trying to keep them even..... That jangly sound is the strat...my Kramer is way more touchy on the bends because of its Floyd bridge.....

Nakatira - thank you for the listen, glad you liked it..... Yes, Mike will use his Rickenbacher on the bass when he adds his touch to it....Everything will change when that happens and a remix will be forthcoming....

:) :D :) :D

Gerry,
I popped in to see if there were any new comments or updates & stopped to have a listen.
It's 9am Saturday morning, the sun is shining, the cup of tea is steamin' and this song just flows right between my ears.
This is a classic - it just seems so easy for you!
I hope she liked it.
