How about the U195? How do you guys view soundelux products in general? How would you compare them to studio projects mics?

I've never used any, but I would assume they might be a small step or two above the Studio Projects line. :D

I pray that Chess was being sarcastic. Soundelux is as good as any of the german mics.Maybe better. If you really want a great mic that sounds very good on most sources and incredible on others and you've got just over a grand to spend then the U195 is for you.You will have this thing forever.

I've tried a few of their mics, and I own an Elux 251 (will prolly eventually add a U99 and perhaps an E47 or E49). I think that Soundelux and Brauner are, without a doubt, the two best mic manufacturers in existance today.

... larry crane (tape op, jackpot studios) raved about these mics when i spoke to him. he has the Soundelux Elux 251 and the Soundelux E47. i hope to be doing a session at his studio soon and sing on one of these mics.

WTF?

Are you turning into DJL Jr.?

are you turning into the guy who pounces everyone who says something non-positive about SP mics? i think he was just saying.. that SP mics are more budget oriented and that Soundelux is just a whole 'nother level, not that SP mics werent great for the price.

Also. Chessrock is the original.

U195 is a pro microphone. Not "mearly" pro either, it's above 95% of the rest of the sheepy flock of competitors. To compare it to SP is like comparing a starter Daewoo to a $50,000 Mercedes.

I just read all 304 post made by H2oskiphil and most of them are based on bickering. Anyway, back to subject and question.

What is H2oskiphil's opinion of Soundelux vs. SP?

Since I've never used a Soundelux mic, I have no opinion on them. Much of what I've read and heard about them has been positive.

I've used a SP C1 and B1. For the money, they are very good microphones. The C1 is the primary vocal mic I'm using for a band that is currently recording a CD in my studio. For their lead singer, it's a very good mic.

I've used the B1 in a variety of applications. It's a good "Swiss army knife" type of mic, much like the SM57. Again, for the price, you'd be hard pressed to find many better LDC's.

Given the fact that the SP line (particularly the "B" and "C" series mics) is aimed at the home project studio, and the Soundelux line is clearly aimed at the professional-grade end user or the high-budget home studio owner, I'm not sure there IS a basis for comparison.

If Aloha can afford the U195, I expect that it would perform better in many applications than ANY of the SP line. One would expect that of a $1500 microphone.

The comparison of a Daewoo (or a Honda Civic) to a Mercedes or BMW is very appropriate. We're talking about two different animals here.

Actually, other than with you, I tend to be pretty civil and ask and answer questions with courtesy. I'm just tired of your game, as are many others on the forum.

You truthfully took the time to read all the threads that I ever posted in? That's sad.

You might be better served spending that time in your studio.

PS-let's keep our disagreements in the threads they're already in. I'm going to delete my comment to Chessrock from this thread. If you'll do the same, we can keep this thread on topic and keep our issues where they belong.

There wasn't much meat to most of your post so it didn't take very long to read them. My studio is being used right now, they been in there all night. Anyway, for once thanks for mostly sticking to the subject of the thread.

i was able to audition an at4047 and a soundelux u195 side by side and i actually wound up keeping the 4047. i found them to be very similar mics in many regards, with the 195 being smooth and airy on my voice and the 4047 sounding slightly warmer and equally smooth on this same voice. there were certain tones that both excelled at. i found them to be quite similar in any regard.

you may want to find a place that sells both and try them out side by side. you may find yourself saving hundreds of dollars and still being quite happy.

and by the way, i liked the u195.

I for one think it's incredibly noble you let homeless people spend the night in your studio.

Because it's obvious to everyone here that no one would ever pay you to record them!

Hey c7sus, thanks for blessing this mic forum with your grace once again.

And I do give to the food bank, churches... and I have helped homeless people too. :)

it has to be said that DJL didn't start it this time.

c7sus - let's be fair none of us have heard any of DJL's recordings, you can make of that what you want but if you're honest you've no idea of how good he may or may not be!

The Soundeluxe u195 is excellent. Very versatile. Holds its value. Worth every penny. Can be a tad sibilant on some people.

I think MOST of you guys could benefit more from recording and promoting your studios more than arguing on this fucking board all day. I've seen several of you post 15 times in the same thread in the same day over an 12 hour period. For Gods sake that is ULTRA pathetic. Get a life dudes.

Peace.

:D You guys are too much.

I think Studio Projects make great budget / entry-level mics. But there's just no comparison to something like a Soundelux. Forget it. Ain't happenin.'

And I haven't seen the company's owner around here spamming in quite some time, so I'm happy as a clamb. We've got a lot more fair, unbiased opinions being traded these days. And aside from a few minor outbursts from the "DJL is the devil incarnate" camp, I'd say things have been relatively quiet around here this past year. We even have Mr. Gerst hangin' out a lot more.

This is a good forum again.
