I've done this a couple times and ended up with some pretty messed up stuff.

Likewise, I've listened to stuff mixed fairly well drunk, and it sounded like ass. I guess alcohol really does mess with the senses. Including hearing.

I've listened back to plenty of stuff while high, but have never made the mistake of actually trying to mix down in that condition. I would probably make things too bass-heavy. :D

Alcohol, caffine, and other "mind-altering" drugs, even tobacco, seriously alter your hearing (negatively). Mixing drunk is a bad idea, as is mixing while high, and even mixing on Red Bull (or even soda).

No, I don't mix drunk, but I have to say I will spark up a fattie. NEVER wasted, just a little cocktail and go to work.

Everything sounds better when you're drunk, which is why, when you mix drunk, the mix sounds worse the next day.

When I'm drunk music sounds to me like it's running faster and higher pitched. I guess alcohol really slows you down.

I do everything in the studio drunk ! LOL

Except vocals. sluuurrrrr

I mix high as much as possible....!! :D i've always felt that when i has high my hearing is more acute cuz thats what weed does, heightens your awareness, which translates to paranoia for some people...

Well I know you got a Lava Lamp then.

LOL

I've always got beerz going in the studio. Weed too. But then I smoke/drink everyday. I sure can't sing worth a shit when I've been saucing it though. If I'm going to drink, I try to lay down the vocals at the beggining of the session before I get too intoxicated.

I'm such a cliche!

It's funny listening to Vox the next day if you were drunk. Thats if you can get all of the words out in the first place. You have to be real good to pull that one off, if it's even possible

Fuck I didn't know you could mix sober....

No seriously, I always mix fairly sober. I will sometimes take a teensy puff in the middle of a serious mix when I get everything sounding right. I make a file of the pre and post mixes and compare at weeks end. I think it gets you more into the detail but THC can blur the big picture sometimes.

I usually need to adjust something glaring in a lit-mix but I almost always go for the stoned mix over the standard.

I never touch a mixer drunk...well too drunk...well...

Strobe Light

(not to be mistaken for the much more common Bud Light)

As for me? I learned not to do too much of anything drunk... Now stoned... heh... ummm... what were we talking about?

Heeey! I'm not as think as you stoned I am!

I wouldn't advocate mixing while under the influence of forgeign substances . . .

. . . but I do think it's essential to at least check them while in various states, to see how they translate.

I love to drink, and I love to record and mix... I get pretty good ideas, sometimes, after the second or third glass of wine, or my third scotch (generally single malt) but mixing drunk usually impairs my ability to do things smoothly and once I´m hammered I tend to be more radical about my decisions so I usually don´t drink more than 4 or 5 in the studio... then I go to the living room and continue the bottle :D Weed helps hear some things that I don´t while sober... but I tend to be too lazy to work when I´m high so I just listen and listen and take mental notes that (if I don´t forget) I later translate when I´m done with the munchies...

I dont mix drunk but occasionally I`ll flame a fat tater for groove medicine. I just hate gettin garlic dip and oreo crumbs all over the tascam and the keyboard.
