Helped Mom move her office today; earned myself a little mono mixer (you know, corporate meeting room style) and a pile of wire. Started to unravel the wire tonight and found an ElectroVoice 635a. It's an omnidirectional number with seemingly no bass response (and no proximity effect). Any suggestions on usage? Thanks!

mmm....

what about use it to rec outside sounds, like cars and people in the mall, or maybe the sounds of you house everybody eating (the sound of plates and cups) and use these sounds in a paticular song...

just an idea.

Yeah, I ran around Yahoo! looking for this mic. All of the results came up VIDEO.

Think I'm gonna turn it into a studio communication mic, as soon as I get a monitor room blocked off :).

635's are very useful, though they don't get out of the cabinet around here as much as the RE55's, another EV omni. Good on shakers, percussion, and even drum overheads in a pinch. Very realistic sounding (no, not Realistic as in Radio Shack), but I'm surprised that you're not pulling any bass out of them. The RE55 is one of my favorites for micing a stand up bass, or bass cabinet, but I've never tried the 635 in that application.
For a great studio talkback mic, get ahold of one of the Astatic D104's, the Silver Eagle, with the on/off handle on the base--looks good, sounds adaquate, and grab it and it's on...
