I recently bought a used EV PL20 for a very good price and it works fine for the most part EXCEPT that there is a slight rattle inside the mic where the windscreen/pop filter is. For the most part, it does not seem to affect the sound until the SPL gets up there (Bass cabs, Kick Drums) then there is some distortion.
I have searched the web for drawing/tech manuals for the mic with no luck and am hesitant to just ship my mic to somebody who "repairs" microphones.
My question then is this. Being fairly mechanical, is this something worth looking into myself OR is there people with any kind of reputation that fix/restore/recondition these babys? I am fairly new at all of this and don't really have contacts for this kind of work.
Any info would be great...or just shared experiences too!
