I'm pretty sure mesa boogie still puts EV's in their cabs. They just call them Mesa Boogie black widow speakers, but they are still made by EV i think.....this is similar to how fender puts eminence speakers in their reissue twin reverbs and fender puts their name on the speakers.
i know that mesa labels them black widows, BUT those refer to either celestion custom 90's OR ev's and the company does make any 4x12's with black widow evs anymore, only custom 90's
EV stands for Electro-Voice, and is the brand name of a company that makes music products. As far as I am aware, they don't make cabinets (although I've been wrong before )
You can put EV speakers in anything you want - they are extremely powerful and weigh a ton, but they do have a very tight sound.
Mesa Boogie do have several different speakers available, go to:
While we are on this subject, what did Music Man put in their amps? I had a music Man with a single 12" and replaced the tubes with some I got from Mesa Boogie, it was the sweetest sounding amp imaginable.
Same goes for my Twin, it sounds good and it's got Eminence! But I'm curious about the Music Man.
