Ethics of cracking software you paid for?

Why would a legitmate owner need to crack software? What advantages could there possibly be? Why would a program work any better?

I have also run into folks who would run the cracked version of software packages which originally had PACE piracy protection built-in to the retail versions of the program they had purchased (i.e. Waves, Autotune, etc.). PACE, a software based anti-piracy application (or did it actually run as a service?), had a history of fouling up the system registry on many computers it was installed on, often mucking them up so much that it would render them useless.

You'd walk in to their studio see the retail box unopened on one of the shelves, but yet they had it running on their systems.

I know of many people who buy software then run cracks because of dongles. From what I hear, many of the cracks run better then the commercial versions.
I don't know much about this stuff though.

My favorite part is when these asshats talk about it like I should be happy that their software now "supports" the use of iLok.
Watch what you say about hats.

That's because you're a troll.

I really respect your knowledge, skills, experience, etc., Ed, but your online personi just rub me the wrong way. Kinda like sandpaper on an open wound.

Try to keep up then! Why are you saying a guy, who has PURCHASED the software, buy who uses cracks of it, is "stealing"?

I guess pointing out is a very subtle way that you totally missed that part makes me a troll?

What is even MORE hilarious is that in bitching about how I rub you wrong, you intetionally try to rub ME wrong. That is hypocritical to the extreme! It also shows that the problem mostly resides in your obviously misguided perception of me. You WANT to believe I am a troll, and find ways to support that idea regardless of how far you have to stretch. No matter what I say or do, you will find a way to warp it into me being an ass.

I am actually quite indifferent to having that kind of power over people. I certainly lose respect for people that are so weak, that they allow me to annoy them so easily simply by asking a legitimate question.

Who is really the troll here? I ask a question to clarify your point, and the answer I get is being called a troll and how I run YOU the wrong way? I still dish out some of the best advice you will read on this BBS.

Whatever, dude. I'm not the one who keeps getting banned from here for acting like an ass. Putting you on my ignore list now.

Whatever, dude. I am not the one who keep getting facts that are in the thread wrong, then acting like an ass when that is pointed out. I am not caring that I am on your ignore list now.

LOL

Again, it just amazes me how hypocritical some people are. Engaging in the vary behavior that they bitch about, to point that out to somebody. LOL....That is rich!

:D
