I have recently bought a Terratec DMX 6 fire 24/96 soundcard. I am currently in the process of trying transfer songs from my Fostex VF 16 via s/pdif to my computer. I am doing this using the VF 16's save mode through s/pdif. I am recording in to Cubase SX. However i am experiencing problems! Errors are occurring on the tracks forcing them slightly out of time with one another. When the wave form is spread out enough i can see the point where the errors are occurring. I am completely stumped as to where this problem is coming from or how to go about solving it!

Don't know what kind of errors you talking about, so more info would help. Are all three components (Fostex, s/c and Cubase)set for the same format? ie; 16 bit, 44.1k for example. And, is the s/c set to use the Fostex's digi-out as the clock master?
Hope that helps...:D

don't know about in cubase sx, but i always have some lag while recording, and i turn "snap" to off/none in my track layout and drag the tracks around until they match up.

All components are set up correctly and are running as they should be, hence my confusion! The errors appear whilst recording and are at first unnoticeable. Only when the tracks are aligned do they become apparent. They are silent but push tracks out of time with one another, causing a once tight recording to sound very loose and unlistenble!
