Hi folks, my daughter is getting married and I want to condense some music to play at her reception from several sources. What is the best way to do this without spending a lot of money? I also would like to record myself (not for anyone else to hear!!) playing my guitar too.

Computer oriented or stand alone recorder? Thanks for the reply in advance. GS

Do you already have a computer?

If so, do you have a CDRW drive?

If the answers are yes, then you can hook up you external sources to your sound card (1/8" male stereo to L and R male RCA patch cable/cord).

You should also download a demo version of Sound Forge (for editing purposes).

Save the different pieces as WAV. files.

Then put them all on you CD (in whatever order you like). :D

Now, I have made a great assumption that...

you already have a computer

that you already have a CD burner

you have a program like DIRECT CD, CD ARCHITECT, or EASY CD CREATOR.

and that you are "comfortable" with using a computer. :)

post us back with some more info.

peace...

Like spin says, if you've already got a pc, it may be the logical avenue to meander down, provided you've got plenty of resources (drivespace, etc.) at your disposal. Then you might want to download the n-track demo

www.n-track.com

- excellent recording software for beginner to beyond.
Get a burner on board and you are off to the races.

Either which way you go, be prepared to put some time and effort into it. Any of the source files you would want to use would all have to be recorded on to your hard drive first as a wave file.

thanks guys..

Yeah, I own a couple of computers, older though. One is a 266 P2 and the other has a celeron 366 processor. Hard drives are both small at 6 and 4 G. respectively. I have thought a lot about building a new one or even buying a used one from someone wanting to upgrade their equipment and not even trying to add a CD/rw to either of these systems.

So I was already interested in a burner, I just would like to buy one item and not have to keep buying peripherals like with computers.

Thanks a lot for your replies, guys. Good site! GS
