Ok, Hi everyone.

I am creating mix cds on my plextor cdr-burner using the normal EAC and cdcreator software. Some songs are much greater in volume than their brothers and sisters. I need to equalize the volume of the entire mixed cd. I have Sound FOrge 4.5, cd architect, cool edit pro, etc.... And I know very little of them. I have tried to import each of the wave files into SF, but I do not know how to "normalize" or as someone told me "average RMS" all of the tracks at once. Makes sense to anyone? Help!

Dan

Leolubin - I don't use Sound Forge, but most wave editors have a normalize function. Why don't you use the help index in SF and search for "Normalize", it should explain how to do it.

One word of caution - normalizing brings the track up to the highest volume it can (i.e., if the highest peak in the song is at -1 db, it will raise the entire track by 1 db). Since each song will probably have a different peak, normalizing will not necessarily make each track of equal volume.

I use a program called Wave Lab, which has a meta-normalize function. In this program you bring in all the songs that you wish to burn to CD, and use meta-normalize to (supposedly) equalize across all the tracks. It only works so-so IMHO.
