Okay I'm pretty familiar with panning, getting the right vocals compression and all. Now all I need to learn is how to EQ, I have a great mixing book and it saids like boost and 5000hz and cut at so and so. But on my pro-tools it saids hi shelf low shelf hi pass low pass, thats where i"m lost. And I don't even understand the differance between all that. Hopefully someone could understand what I'm saying and if you do can you please help?

How is it that you don't understand how to EQ yet you have Pro-Tools?

I don't know maybe I'm just being too self conscious or something...

I highly, HIGHLY reccomend this book:

Producing in the Home Studio with Pro Tools, 2nd Edition
Intended for beginner and intermediate Pro Tools LE users, Producing in the Home Studio with Pro Tools, 2nd Edition by David Franz significantly expands upon his first edition’s coherent, do-it-yourself approach with fresh, engaging practical enhancements including hands-on, genre-specific song projects backed by Pro Tools sessions. In this edition, he also addresses and explains Pro Tools 6.x software, digital audio editing, each of the Pro Tools LE family members (Digi 002, Digi 001, Mbox and ToolBox), and much more. Buy a copy in the DigiStore.

I had the same questions too. This book teaches you how to EQ and mix specifically through Pro Tools.

I think ur using the digi pack EQ, I can't really help u with that one cuz I never use it. Do you have the Waves EQ? I think it's called R 2 band, 4 band or 6 band EQ? Depending on how old ur Digi product is, it should have come with it (I hunted down an older version of the 002 because I heard it came with better plug ins). Anyway the waves EQ is easier to understand but if you don't have it go to the Digi site and join the DUC. TONS of Pro Tools specific info there. Good luck.

Any newbie on the planet earth can download Profools free or buy an Mbox with Profools le...so why does it suprise you?

Just because you own a program with the preface 'pro' in it does not automaticly make you 'pro'.

Gotta' disagree with ya on that one. Bought an Ultragain Pro once, and . . . well, I'll be damned if it didn't indeed make me pro.

I think it is "Pro" as opposed to against!:D So i guess you can be for "tool" and not know how to use them!! My uncle owns a gun shop called Pro Gun... but they are for guns and pro's! WOW, what a good name for a gun shop!
