I have an Alesis Studio 24 mixer with L&R stereo inserts. I am using a outboard Yamaha EQ and Nano Compressor in one loop from the inserts.
Should I run the signal to the EQ first , then to the compressor, or compress before the EQ??. I am having a hard time getting that high end sparkle in my stereo ADAT mixdown to DAT.
Cheers!

I would run it to the Eq first and then the compressor.Compressors should be post EQ.Every body agree?

My Eden bass amp (and my old Hartke bass amp) both had compression first, and then EQ. I've seen people suggest both ways, and I don't really know which is best for which situations...

I would have to agree with LMStudio for this application. With the compressor after the eq, the compressor is able to round-out the overall sound of the eq... For example, if the high-end on the eq is boosted, it can sound a little shrill. The compressor (especially those of which are tube based) will "soften" the high-end and it will still be bright; just without the shrillness.

Thanks for the advice, I'll try the Compressor Post EQ and see how it sounds.
