Step 1. Lisyen to what you have
step 2. Visualize what you want it to sound like
step 3. Set the EQ controls for the difference between what you have and what you want it to be.
Seriously, do you think all guitar leads sound the same? Do you think every guitar through every amp through every microphone sounds exactly the same?
You are asking questions that are so vaugue that no one can answer. If you posted a clip of the mix with the solo in it and asked "what can I do to make this sit in the mix better?", THAT is something that we could answer. Simply asking how to set an EQ for a metal leadwont get you anywhere because no one can hear the sound you are starting with, the sound of the mix it is competing with or what you want it to sound like in the end.
