epiphone les paul vs. gibson les paul

I would say find a used gibson les paul...like i saw posted earlier, you can find one for 5 or 6 hundred bucks (i sold a '75 lp custom for 250 bucks a few years ago....cause it was too heavy and i wanted a boat motor) I think epi's, gibsons, fenders, squires and every other make of guitar have one thing in common. Some are fine and some suck. I've played some gibsons that were crap...played some epi's that were fine. I tend to agree that MOST epi's have a cheap feel to thier neck....can't really describe what it is...just cheap feeling when compared to gibson...but the new gibsons are cheaper feeling than the '75 i sold for 250 bucks. I went to a music store about a year ago with the intention of buying an american made strat (had the money in hand) and walked out of there with a mex made strat...it was the best playing guitar in the store and i spent hours playing every strat in there. I replaced the pickups with texas specials and i would put it up against most strats out there. I have a '66 strat that plays a little better...but they are real close. Bottom line is this...go play some gibsons and epi's and don't depend on opinions of others to form yours.

It looks like Leeking is giving some really good advice here.

I've been checking around, and the word is getting out that Tokai is making a Les Paul copy (called "Loverock") that's better than a Gibson these days... and for less than half the price!

These guitars are definitely worth a look.
Good advice, Leeking! ;)
