Enhancer/Exciter + Bass Treble Question

Can anybody explain the right way to use an Enhancer/Exciter?
Currently I'm using one of these Behringer Dualfex (yes, I know what you pros think about Behringer :) ) only for monitoring purposes (to compensate the lack of highs in my monitors).

Anyway when I turn off the E/E when listening to my favourites CD the A/B difference it's irrelevant, but when I try the same comparison in my mixes I can hear a total lack of the treble range... I'm unable to find a balance between bass and high frequencies, my mixes are always too "bass enhanced".

Should I try a multiband compressor? :-?

You are monitoring through an Exciter? What kind of monitors do you have that don't have enough highs? If you are basses are to low end heavy it sounds like not having enough bass response is the real problem.

Either way an exciter is not the right solution. Maybe you just need to add a bit of high end EQ to some of your tracks?

I've a pair of Grundig... A real old pair of Grundig... About 30 years old :) Then I've a pair of Pioneer for treble and a Subwoofer for bass monitoring... The Bass response it's good.
I use the Enhancer/Exciter to controll the hiss/noise level.
But in the end my mixes sounds always "too fat"...

Here is an example:

Let me know what you think...

You're right. Most aren't nearly as helpful and/or concise.

:-?

What that is telling me is the cd's are Mixed/Mastered correctly and they sound good regardless. That means you may need to put a little more work into your tracks. If the CD's can sound good, than your tracks can also.
