Hey all, i've got a problem here that's causing me to punch various walls around the house.
this is probably something REALLY simple, but i cant figure it out anyway.

ok, so i recorded my stuff, i'm happy with it, and i encoded it into mp3 format
now the problem is getting it to work properly in a player. Every time i go to open the file, it says "A required .DLL file, PNCRT.DLL file, was not found" or some crap like that.
So.....anyone know what i can do?
Thanks to all those who reply

meese - just an idea. there is a free mp3 encoder called LAME
(google for link), take your stereo wave master and try encoding it to mp3
with lame, THEN click on the mp3 in windows and see if it plays.
if it doesnt and you get same message then win OS needs that dll and it has been deleted somehow,so i would google for a replacement.
there are many other free mp3 encoders/players. just google for them
by putting in search box "free mp3 encoding software".
but i somehow think lame should work fine unless your OS is screwed up somehow.

ok meese - i found the source of your problem. your using real player and that dll file has become deleted so real player wont work. i would suggest you go to download.com do a search for a small free mp3 player.
there are many around. then your currently encoded files will play.
i have not tried this but soundclick.com have a 100 per cent free mp3
player they claim. you might want to give it a shot.
there are many others as well. hitsquad, com have a bunch.

with respect charva - i'm a puter engr.
i tried winamp once. found it loaded a bunch of stuff.
its also quite LARGE. there are very small exe nice mp3 free players around the net. some as small as only 200k exe or less.
i'll do a search now and suggest a few that are not invasive.

i found following.
dbpoweramp for example.
mp3machine.com has a huge list of mp3 players.

Hey manning...not sure what happened to the original poster, but he should have thanked you, lol.

Anyway, on Winamp, I was just wondering if you remember which version you tried. There was a horrible version (3.0, I think), that took about 1 minute just to load, lol...I actually recommend the latest version to people, (although there's a security problem that nobody seems to talk about). ANYWAY, just wondering.

heh heh...harris is right. i shouldve thanked you, manning
i just havent been here since my mp3's started working cuz i'm easily excited. And i sit and record for days...

so um, ....Thank You, Manning! :D

Anyway, it turns out i didnt need to download a new mp3 player because i already had windows media player! yay!

Ahem....yeah so my Win.Media player has been actin all screwy lately, whatever whatever,

and I just got a version of Winamp.

So Chris, this security thingy thing.....?

just curious...

meese and others. thanks for the thanks.
i post all these posts - will someone click my scales and up my reputation points then ? boohoo ...everyone forgets to up my reputation on the scales icon.
yeh - win media player will do the job. its BIG though.
download.com have a bunch of free mp3 players and shows you exe sizes in the search. look for a small exe mp3 player. if i remember there is one that just sits in the systray.
