I have the chance to buy a used Emu APS sound card. Does anyone know anything about its quality or sound? I just have a regular sound card in right now and it is starting to go bad. The main thing I need out of the sound card is clean outs to monitor with.

Thanks,
Jeremy

I liked it

I used it for a couple years with good results. It's really a good synth/sampler card with great MIDI features. I wouldn't pay more than $100 for it in this day and age. It was about $600 list a few years ago but probably overpriced even then.

People will compare it to a soundblaster but the S/N is way better and the APS mixer is a great interface once you get used to it. Be aware though, it has four inputs but only two channel unbalanced simultaneous analog recording. There were a few expansions for it but I'm not sure if they overcame the two channel limit.

It is also discontinued and you will not find driver support for XP. The Audiophile would be a better buy.
