Hi guys,
I know it's nooby question but you know, this is forum, I'm still noob so...:)
I have Emu 1212M, in PatchMix DSP Software I can see gain control. If I plug guitar straight to Jack Input and turn up gain does it change just the volume of signal coming to the card or works like a pre-amp?
Do you know what i mean?

Thx for reply, and please do not laugh so loud that i can hear it :)

no preamps on the 1212m.

A good card though - I used one all the time feeding it with the output of my big analog desk.
Desk just died so I am on the lookout for alternatives.

You can either do what I did and buy an Analog preams to ADAT card and hook up through the ADAT optical connection or buy a mixer or a direct injection box that will increase the level of whatever you plug into the 1212m`s analog ins to line level.

A little cheapo behringer of a folio notepad or similar would do everything you need for basics and not cost the earth.
And a small mixer is a lot more flexible than just a DI but it DOES have to have mic preamps.
For the guitar itself in order to get the signal up to where it will sound like a guitar again you will need something like the pocket pod (about as cheap as you`ll get for something that sounds OK) plus it has the bonus of making your guitar sound good-ish.

Thanks for reply.
I've bought Art Tube. I know it produce a lot of noise but for my purpose it's great. If i discover all of the possibilities coming from this pre-amp I'll think about new one.
Again thanks for reply!
