Resident moody teenager
This is the initial product of a very long Friday evening with gear spread everywhere in the guitarist's living room!
Its all sounds very hot at the moment and is very squashed (limiter pumps with the kick at points), which I will apologise but make excuses for
- I think one of the buses that was used for feeding the monitor mix when tracking got looped back through when mixing down (I accidentally had Sonar set to mixdown everything, not just the main bus). By then it was very late though and I haven't had time to do another mixdown since. I will sort it tonight though!
(if you can make it through the first 2 minutes, it improves as it progresses, honest!)
EDIT: LINK PULLED - working on better mix!
I have to have it (and two other songs) ready for Tuesday to give away as free demo CDs at a BOTB competition. All the band members are around my age (16 or 17).
Drums are real (snare and kick were replaced with samples, but these were recorded the kit - just makes hi-hat bleed a bit easier to cope with
... even with the best mic placement it can still be problem). All the guitars are real too - no amp sims.
Things I plan to sort in the next mix...
Other than that, I'm quite happy with it
Any suggestions on how to improve it would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Matt

Things I plan to sort in the next mix...
- Bass could be a bit prominent - its a bit weak when compared to other recordings
- Shave some highs off the guitars - let the cymbals push through
- Bit less lo-fi distortion on the verse vox
- Kick a bit lower, snare a tad higher. There are also one or two mis-triggers.
Other than that, I'm quite happy with it

Any suggestions on how to improve it would be appreciated!
Thanks,
