This is sorta kinda a computer recording issue (I need my computer to record - if it screws up, I can't record).

A while ago, I asked on this site if email attachments were deleted automatically when you deleted the email, and I was told that the attachments were in fact deleted. But I've found out that isn't the case with my email program. I using Eudora 3.X (yeah, it's old but I like it - why upgrade an email program?) and I find that even after I delete emails, the attachments still remain (and accumulate) in the Eudora Attachments folder.

The problem is going through the attachments folder and deciding what to delete. The only way I can decide if I want to keep something is to click on it and find out if it's important or not. But therein lies the danger, no?

I recently got nailed by a worm. I'm pretty sure it was opening email attachments that did it.

Okay, so aside from the heads up here, my question is: are you running an email program that automatically deletes attachments when you delete the email? Are you sure? LOL And if so, wanna let me know what program you're using?

Ah yes, good ol' Eudora....

Why not scan the attachments folder with your antivirus software?

What anitivirus software? I don't use any.

Sigh...okay, I'm gonna bite the bullet and get some AV software. Any suggestions?

I've used Eudora for years now. From version 3 now up to version 6.
I'm not at home right now and won't be until thursday or friday but I believe that there is an option that lets you automatically remove the unwanted attachments when you empty the trash bin.
But I'm not 100% sure at this point because I can't check it for you..

I don't recognize that, but then I've stuck with Version 3 for years. Maybe I should get into Version 6.

I suppose that I can save all my mailboxes in a folder, right? and then access them later with an upgraded version?
