Hi all,

first post ever.

I will start recording a new project soon and my drummer just bought the new "V drum" from roland. All i know is that it has a stereo output on the module. i dont mess with midi at all.

do any of you guys has any advice on how to record this type of instrument?

i use a mackie 12 for a mixer and i record everything on my computer.

tnks!

You should have more than the stereo output. The TD8 has 4 outputs; the TD10 has 6 or 8. I used the TD8 to record an album once. With Vdrums, you can assign any instrument to an output. We put the snare and kick each on separate outputs. We then mixed the toms to a stereo signal that was sent to the remaining two outputs.

We used real cymbals, which I would recommend if you are trying to get a natural drum sound. Electronic drums can sound great, but real cymbals still are much better than electronic ones in most cases.

neirbo,

That's how I SHOULD use my V-Customs, but honestly, I just use the stereo outs (then wish I had control over bass and snare volume.)

Sometimes I run in mono through a JoeMeek for a really pseudo vintage sound. That, I feel, is a waste of fidelity :)
