has anyone had any experience recordindg with a roland td20 kit. i'm thinkin of getting one but its expensive and i want to make sure its going to be worth it.

They are awsome!!

They produce the best sounding drums you can have in a home studio set up.No miking, stands, drum booth or sneezing from someone watching.
The only better sound would be in a pro studio with all the soundproofing and mike placements etc...
The vexpressions are next on my wish list. :p :D

Look around and ask questions before you decide you want to spend mucho coin on these tubs.
My drummer got his a month ago and loves the natural feel of the mesh heads.
I love the sounds and the recording ease.

I can't speak directly about the TD-20 but I do have a TD-8 (factory sounds leave a lot to be desired) that I use to trigger DFH Custom & Vintage samples. These samples IMO will proived far better sounding drums then any canned factory drum brain sound.

If I were just starting to look at electronic drums/samples, I'd go with something like a TD-3 (very inexpensive) and use it to trigger either DFH Superior and/or DFH custom & vintage samples. With DFH you get about 35G of samples but, you will need a fairly decent PC; especally, if you want to trigger the samples in "real-time" while actually playing live.
