I have a TD-7. I'd like to replace the rubber drum pads with mesh/skin ones. Will this increase the sensitivity/velocity data captured by the TD-7 and set to my computer? Basically I want to send the MIDI data to my computer, where I will trigger drum samples. Will the latency be too significant to trigger these samples form my computer live? Finally, are there any electronic drum heads that anyone would suggest in particular?

It has been a very long time since I've looked at the control parameters for a TD7. Naturally a mesh head responds to dynamics (velocity) better than the rubber pads, but I just can't remember the TD7 parameters well enough to tell you if the TD7 can recognize the improved velocity (I'm guessing yes it can - to some degree).

If you do a search on the Roland web site - there is a V-Drums users group forum - you may be able to get better info there.
