Oh shit - stomp boxes for fiddlers.
Look out Stravinsky - the veggies will be flyin' again!
(Poor bastard still ain't over Le Sacre du Printemps)

Kick-ass playing - hard-core tonal stuff - don't try this at home.

Very cool

really smokin'... yup. You need a real nice rug to stand on to go with that new toy. :)
Sounds really nice, lots of things you can pull off with that thing.

Who needs guitar when you have violin? :D

You don't need no steenking guitar player, just hire a violinist:D

Unfortunately, most violinist's dont have a clue as how to do the rock stuff. I messed around with the J-Station tonight, and the presets do not work for violin; I made some bitchin ones, Woohoo!!! I will post the results soon, but I finally got some sounds that work with my electric, hold me:(

Hey Mr. Talent ;) Could I borrow you for a little strings on a Cash cover?

W.

Fiddlelickin good!

Sounds great man.You have some pretty hot fiddle licks in your holster.$99 bucks sounds cheap for a decent POD.I've been wanting to get one but there are so many to choose from that I cant make up my mind. Are you completely satisfied with the J-Station?I might have to grab one for that price.

Hot fiddle playing dude!

David:

You'd BETTER answer him, and it had BETTER be the right answer.

Or we all might have to find a new place to post our tunes, know what I'm sayin?

:D

Oh yeah...Downloading your tune now...

i like the part where you played the violin clean. it was bach i think? :)

Technology is a wonderful (and hugely distracting) thing. I know you've wanted the new toy for quite a while, and you will definitely have fun with it, so I'm all happy and stuff. Personally, I think distortion is good for people like me to cover up shoddy playing - with you, something gets lost.

But it's a fuckload of fun, eh?

Going to see REM Sunday. Need me to pass along any messages?...or a lawsuit? :D

Good stuff David, There were a few of those tones I really liked, but lost track of em because there were so many.

WOW

Hey DK

So this is you playing with your Johnson!!

Sounds like you've been practicing, when you could have been out playing ball.

I would love to hear the debotchery caused by a octave pedal, too.

Very cool, I go now listen again, me likey!!

GT

Ooooh!!!!! That was WICKED!

Would love to hear you lay down some trax with some of the shredders around here, like Beezelbubba.

And I would love to do some drums for you.

Nice investment, that J-Station.

You are a class "A" player, sir David.

One question, though...
Do Violin players who do this stuff make the same silly faces as guitar players who do this stuff?

I ordered a JStation on your recommendation last week, David (Musician's Crutch) - sounds like you're having some fun dere!!!

Who was the guy who played that half-violin, half-guitar thing - John Blair? Sumpin like that. Called it a Vitar, I think. Played on Leon Thomas' "Blues and the Soulful Truth" - up against Larry Coryell. Great sound.

Cool sounds from you, too, man. The world needs more rock-n-roll violin!

Daf (watchin the mail for his...)

Thanks for all the nice comments, guys

Nope, we are all gay nerds and geeks who never ever heard of this newfangled rock and roll music you speak of, we have no emotions:D ( yeah, I make a few faces on stage, but not in my living room in front of the cats)

The J-Station is pretty cool. I have been messing with it, the software is easy to work with. The presets don't work well for violin, but since it wasnt made for violin, I guess I will do some editing.

The distortion is a blast, but it only works here and there. One of the " clean" patches is really working well, once I changed a few of the parameters.

I shall be posting some actual tunes soon, I think I got some nice homemade patches that will work. Thanx Guys:cool:

what kind of electric violin do you have? i heard that the majority of them are shoddily made, and not up to most violinists high standards.

So David ... dahlink ...

from what I understand at this point, you are going direct into the J-Station with an electric violin ?

Or is that a pickup on an acoustic ...

Is there a pre-amp ... if so what kind.

I did NOT understand this was designed for violin. If there continue to be upgrades and new releases of this product, things could get pretty cool here.

I have a digitech multi-effects unit, and of course I've had to tweak the hell out of it to get some decent sounds.

This J-Station seems like a much, much better piece of equiptment.

If you have a condenser or small lavalier mic, I would appreciate just a test pass with that configuration also.

Please ... give ... us .... more .... technical ... on you widdle SaNdBoX !!!!

whaaaaaaaa ! :p

I have no clue. Yamaha and others make shit electric fiddles, my fiddle was made by my buddy Mark Wood, hand made with the best pickup available. I guess there are a bunch of Crappy ones, I have never played them.

StudioPat, it is a solid body electric. No mic, no nothing, I just plug in and play. No Pre_amp. no nothing. I recorded some stuff tonite, prepared to be blown away. I was doing chords and stuff. J-Station folks should hire me as a spokes-something, because I was doing some shit tonight that I have never heard coming out of a fiddle, I will post it tomorrow. U S A!!!

Has anyone guessed that it was Mahavishnu Orch yet?

Anyway, how long a drive is it from Cleveland to NY? I think I need to jam with you Mr Man.

Carl

Let me guess, the Zappa tune is going to be 50 - 50, right?

I love Ponty too!

Carl

I always loved that violin solo Ponty did in "50-50." It's a gem. But no, actually we're working on another song...
