RUSTY,

I could work but I would rather stay home, write songs,
fuck off, record songs, get drunk, live off my wife's income,
& watch you post many stupid threads as fast as you can so you do not
carry that newbie label for too long!

Reply to John Sayers

putting things togeather.

Would a bunch of cheap blankets from Goodwill do a decent job? Would a set of curtains be better? How bout a curtains in front of some blankets?
I'm a cheapskate and I'm looking to add to my mobile studio.

Look guys, the cheapest absorber is Fibreglass or rockwool. Cover it with cloth if it offends your friends ;)

Rusty - I would love to do that. I'm footloose and fancy free.

We've finally got our soundcard and we plugged in our only two mikes at the mo (At4050 and SM58) and I put them over the new Boston grand, openned the faders, sent them to 2 tracks on the puter, hit record and then played it back. It was nice to stand by the piano and here its sound and then walk into the control room and here the same sound. ;)

cheers
John

Showoff. :D

BTW: What gas DOES foam oxidize into? I keep following this thread, I keep finding no gas...

Tip - removal blankets from Home Depot about $10, filled with recycled wadding.
I made a bunch of "hangers" by gluing the blankets onto a core of mineral loaded vinyl.
works nicely.

and another tip Jeez guys........and I thought I was old at halve a century, but some of you guys.... you are OLDER than half a century.
I noticed that, since I moved to the new place and changed my email address, I'm a newbie again
Ever since, I've been trying to find out if I was born with a number. If I could find that, and change it, could I start all over again? I wanna, 'coz I can't remember the '70's. Must have been all those drugs in the '70's. Dunno really, 'coz I can't remember the '70's.
What am I doing here? Oh yeah.
If you look at the pics of "sjokoville" on John's site, you'll see how I fastened glasswool to the front wall. Used small squares of ply pushed into the wool and stapled that to the rear wall, thereafter covered the whole thing with hemp cloth (can you smoke it?). I have found that the irregular shapes you make in the wool as a result help the acoustic performance quite a bit.
