efx processors

Eric, thanks for the distortion suggestions. I'll look into that. :)

Albert do you remember how much the expander costs for the KSP-8? I would probably go the other route, with the rumuor and mangler for money reasons, but I'm just curious. And I like the idea of having multiple efx units with more variety. Thanks again.

yeah I think the best way to go is to get one unit for delay/reverb/modulation/etc effects and then one for distortion like the psa 1.1.

Question: If I am processing guitar, vocals, bass, keys, + more with reverb, distortion, etc. all at the same time during the mix, will I need an efx processor with as many inputs and outputs (say 6-8)?

No. You patch the fx processor into an aux send & return on your mixer, and then send some of each channel (vox, guitars, etc.) into the aux mix.

You will need a different processor (or processor channel) for each aux mix that you make.

Thanks dirtythermos,

I would want a different effect on each track. And, I would want different types of reverbs on each track, so I guess I will need a processor that has as many channels as the tracks I want to treat. Thanks for the info.

I am getting the feeling that I am going to be spending a lot of money on cables.

I don't remember what the KSP8 analog expander cost, it was a few hundred, something like that.

The main limitation you may run into is in how many aux sends your mixer has. So if you have four sends there's no point in having six effects boxes.
