Effects question

I use a four track to record and I have an RNC. Does it make any difference whatsoever if I patch the effects into the tracks after they've been recorded (effect 1, 2) instead of recording the tracks through the compressor as you're recording?

When you say effects I assume you are talking about the RNC. You cant really use compressors in an FX loop unless your goal is to mix the natural and compressed signals. That is actually a cool trick for rythm parts.

The best way is to use inserts or direct outs if you have them since that is what they are primarily made for. If you dont have inserts and you want to hear only the compressed track then you would need to send it out through a pre fader aux send and then lower the fader all the way.
