Is it possible to apply effects to a specific frequency range rather than the whole sound in something like cubase or audition?

one way you could do that is send a copy of the signal to an auxilary track and EQ all the frequencies out that you don't want, and then add an effect after the EQ. So you could send the original dry signal to 3 different tracks, add a low pass on one, high pass on another, and roll off both highs and lows on the 3rd. Then add whatever effects you want.

I know they have multi-band compressors, but I haven't heard of anything like that. That's really interesting. You might be able to experiment with a crossover. Cool idea!
