I'm a MC thats about to start recording on my second lp.
i need to know what kind of effects do i add to the vocals and the track
to get that professional sound to it.

i use :
adobe audition
sony soundforge
sony acid
acoustica mixcraft.

i usually use acoustica mixcraft for recording. and then i switch to adobe audition for effects.
but i don't know what right effects to add.

I use a little reverb and compression. The good sound comes out in the mastering I think. I'm still learning, and have a ton of questions, but the above works with vocals for me.

most rap mixes I hear are fairly dry. there are exceptions, like tribe... but I think the current trend is towards dry. I would just play with the verbs that your package came with. then compare what you came up with to some of the songs you like best.

what does the term "dry'' mean?
sorry, im new to all this.

yeah most peeps tell me to add reverbs and light echos.

what else can i do.
and also do i need to add any effects to the finished tracks?

ok cool thanx.

should the volume of th vocals be higher than the instrumentals?

dude best adivice grab a cd of your favorite artist and use one of the songs you think your song matches then use that song as a reference...

by reference I mean play that song and listen to how loud the bass is compared the the rest of the instruments? now try and make your bass match that... so on and so forth...

where about in houston are you?
