its a preference to me.. i know ppl that work much better with hardware vs software, and vice versa..

i like hardware going in to record.....software once its there.....maybe hardware on the final mixdown to the master.....

Depends how much money you have to burn...if u have a lot i'd go Hardware no latency issues and most would agree it sounds better then plug-ins

but if u don't have money to burn plug-ins are great cuz they are getting alot better and all you have to do is buy it once and you can use it on as many tracks as you want

other things u need to factor in...when the OS is upgraded will the plug-ins be obsolete? thats a reality in the software world while h/w units last pretty much forever if you take care of it well

you can always dual boot and keep the old OS......

if you have your gear rockin', why would you upgrade OS's?.....

im sure the company that made that awesome hardware unit will come out with a new improved model...do you HAVE to get it?.....

and with hardware, there can be latency issues....and you have to worry about all the extra DA and AD conversions degrading the sound quality.....

I prefere hardware reverbs and time based effects. I have to admit that some of the software comressors ain't bad at all.

considering $$$/performance, software is better.....consider how much you spend on 1 good reverb unit....spend that on a plugin and i guarantee it will be just as good and you have as many reverb units as your CPU will allow.....

(gets off soapbox)
