Does anyone know any tweaks, enhancements or links to any sites that have information on tweaking effect pedals?

For instance, I have a russian made Big Muff by Electro Harmonix but the problem is, you can only use a battery to charge it and not an AC like a majority of the pedals out there. And I'd like to add an AC plug in the pedal.

Thanks in advance.

This one's easy, without changing your pedal in any way.

Get yourself one of those low-current (<50mA) wall-wart transformers (AC-->DC), the voltage should match the voltage of battery you're already putting in the unit (possibly 9 volts, if it's like any other pedal) - also if you know the current requirements for the pedal (by spec), then match the current also.

Then buy yourself the appropriate MALE battery connector terminal to fit the FEMALE connector already in your pedal.

Strip the connector end of the wall-wart and replace it with your new one......

Now you can use either battery or wallwart (but not both at the same time!) depending on your requirements.

I've tried this but I get a lot of hum coming from the effect.

You may have gotten your polarity wrong? Or you don't have the right kind of wall-wart.
