hope this is the right section... My question is what program is best if you want to take certain words out of songs and replace them with sounds.. For example when i want to make a "clean" version of one of my songs, I use Sound Forge and either mute the word or reverse the word. I would rather throw in place of te word a small sound, like glass smashing or something to that effect.

If you're working with a two track version of a song I'd use Sound Forge. If the dirty word was .697 seconds long, cut it out (not mute) and paste in .697 seconds of breaking glass. If you have it in multi track on your computer damn near all recording multi track software allows you to draw volume envelopes on a individual tracks. Draw in a mute on the dirty word and create a new track and drop and drag into place the sound effect you want to replace it with. That way only the vocal ducks and the music bed stays constant.

We used sound forge to cover up the bad word with a simple-sythesis generated sine wave... which is perfect for us, because we're a comical band, and it makes it sound like the song is being played on Jerry Springer.
