I'm new to PT but learning more all the time. :)

How do I trim from the front of a track and keep the remaining region in it's original postition? Every time I try to trim or cut the front end of a track or region it jumps to 0.

Thanks,
Rusty K

It sounds like you have Shuffle Mode turned on
Change it to Slip or Grid mode

Bingo...you got it! I'm not up on what all the modes do but I'm moving right along. I just jumped in and started recording tracks and I keep going till I hit a snag. Even though the reference guide is well organized it's sometimes difficult to know just where to look for the answer.

Thanks

It's quite simple: Shuffle keep the relative positions of regions the same (relative, not absolute!)
Slip lets you do whatever you want
Spot means that when you select a region you can tell it exactly where to go (ie, click on the region and type in 1min37s24ms)
Grid means it will automatically snap to the closest grid line. Your grid can be in samples, bars & beats, mins & secs, whatever you want. Select this by clicking on the appropriate unit on your ruler. You can set how detailed the grid is too. it's the green writing on black background, just above the ruler i believe.
