First I am new to playing music and recording. last time I recorded anything was on a cassette player (long, long ago). I just got a DP 03 recorder, mostly because it can burn CDs. Right now I just want to record and then edit out the space before and after a song, not yet into the dubbing and such, just want to keep it simple. But I can not figure out how to edit. Dumb question maybe but help would be appreciated. Thanks.

hi
i think you would have to do it when you have it in the mastering mode by having all the faders down before the song comes in and then back down at the end, hope i make sense.

It's pretty easy to do this, although it's sort of tough to explain. You set an "IN" point, and an "OUT" point (find out how on page 46 of the manual) at the beginning and end of the part you want to remove, and then use the CUT TRK to delete (find out how on page 52 of the manual).

I'd suggest recording a test track, like recording yourself count 1,2,3,… and playing around with the editing functions.

Thanks for the ideas. PiperMcCian I will try what you said. Thanks again.

Actually, if you set the ins and outs, dead space will automatically be cut when you mixdown.

Sorry, I thought this was specific to the dp-24. My answer might now apply, although it does for the dp-008 as well
