Editing in PT8 - Really that good?

Hi

I'm in the process of switching to mac and want a new DAW as I am fed up with Cubase. I thought about PT8 but I don't want to "downgrade" my interface from my RME FF400 to a 002, 003 or Mbox pro which have poor converters and are less portable. So Logic is the, eh, logical choice. However, I keep reading that Apple haven't updated Logic's audio editing features in years and that they are not up to par with PT8, regardless of "elastic audio". Meticulous audio editing is extremely important to me.

What will PT8 give me that Logic won't? I never seem to get an answer to this question.

couldn't tell you much about pt8, but i coudl tell you the logic seems to be pretty powerful, including logic express (it has the same editing abilities as logic pro).

i wouldn't downgrade from your interface to pro tools.

-logic has unlimitied tracks... pt has 48.
-logic comes with a huge wealth of instruments and plugins
-logic studio comes with 3 other awesome apps (mainstage, soundtrack pro 2 and waveburner)
-logic is also probably going to have an update soon-ish (maybe with snowleapoard?) seeing thats its been a a good 6 months or maybe more without an update.

there's a lot more reasons you should investigate both programs. Do your homework!

Thanks

Are there any PT users out there who feel it smokes Logic in the audio editing department? I'd love to hear why, I know this has been debated a lot but there is no clear answer anywhere. Feature-wise, what is so powerful about PT's way of editing audio?
