I have the card in the computer and my guitar processor is connected via a SPIDF cable into it.

I purchased some monitors, however they are not Active (Powered) so I plan on getting an Active powered setup.

Prior to this I was using a Santa Cruize card with surround sound.

Question is, what cables will I need? What monitors are cheap and good? My neighbors already complain so I do not need anything that loud.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Marc

Have you considered just getting a power amp to use with your passive monitors?

In any case, you'll want a set of balanced cables with either 1/4-in TRS end connections or XLR--depending on the required interface to your active monitors/power amp.

Yep that would work, though the Samson amps get bashed around here pretty frequently. I've got one though and it seems ok to me. Hafler power amps seem to have a better rep on the budget side.

I'm assuming you have 1/4-in outputs on the Echo Mia card? If so, what you need to get are two cables with 1/4-in TRS (tip-ring-sleeve) connectors on each end. Plug one end into your sound card and the other end into the respective channel input on the power amp. Use speaker cable between the power amp and your monitors.

I have no experience with the Gemini amp, but it's got RCA inputs rather than 1/4-in balanced. Probably not a good thing.
