Don't be taken like I was. If you see a great deal on Cakewalk software listed on EBAY, stay away from it! I just purchased what I thought was a legal program package and it was a burned copy without ser.#.

Let this be a lesson to everyone. If you need software, pay the price for a legal copy from a respected dealer.

Steve

I saw a Producer 5 package available from England on eBay and asked the seller whether it was original CD + manuals and got no response.

I wonder what the answer was? LOL

HeHe, I just reported one from UK to ebay, it say's in the listing, "This fully working product is collected for backup, if you like the software please buy the full retail version". what an idiot! item # 9712416136

I was able to resolve my problem with the Ebay seller. However, not all sellers of 2nd party software are that honest. It is worth it to buy 'new in the box' programs even if it's just for the support and updates this investment will bring.

I was able to buy a brand new copy of Sonar 4 Producer on Ebay a year ago. It was the full blown software with the book and the Ignite book. I saved some off of buying it from Cakewalk. I now purchase upgrades right from Cakewalk. I have been burned on other software on Ebay. So I stay away from that now.

ebay software

as my old momma used to say.."you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear" Need to stay away from Ebay software and pirates on limewire. Both are nothin' but trouble. You gets what you pay for........Learned that being 60 years old but some folks still manage to fool me once in awhile.......papajon :)

I used a "borrowed copy" of Sonar 3 for about a year. When I got hooked, I bought Sonar 5 PE and I am now a proud, registered Sonar owner.

Was that wrong?...

It's wrong up until the point you buy the software.

Heheh that's wisdom right there.

I agree, but sometimes you do get a good genuine deal

i purchased a "burned" copy of Sonar 4 producers on EBAY, and i got it dirt cheap, and I KNEW it was a burned copy. You can still use the program, you just cant register it and get upgrades. for the price i got it for ..........................i said screw it! ill buy it anyways!

As my ol' momma used to say, "No matter how thin you slice the baloney, you can still throw a brick through a plate glass window."

Some things are just oozing scam: "cheap" software on eBay, Russian used car lots, "Your PayPal account is suspended, login here...", etc.

PT Barnham was correct.
