I am new at recording and purchased a Tascam dp01fx. I play the guitar though not very well in my mind, but still like to at least record some songs on a cd. I have attempted to do this using the usb port from the Tascam to my pc using windows xp., but find it kind of complicated from beginning to end. I am sorry to ask such a primal question but for you dp01fx users how do you download from the dp01fx to the computer, your recorded music and ready them to burn on a cd. Thank you. (I hope I gave enough info.)

hi. if i read you correctly you want to get your music from the dp01fx to the computer for burning to a cd. the process is simple. i'll walk you thru it :)

i'll assume you want to mix on the dp01fx and not on the computer because both are possible.

the first thing you have to do is mix down the song. ie create a stereo "master" of it. this procedure is explained on page 23 of the manual. Once you have a "master" you like, go to menu/wave/export master. then you have an opportunity to name it or export it as it is. (it will initially be named MIX001 or some such). after it is done exporting you must go to menu/disk/open usb. (make sure your dp01fx is already connected to the computer via usb wire.) then either you go to my computer and open the dp01fx seen as an external hard drive, or windows will pop up a menu with the option of opening folder to look at files. choose open folder. find the wave folder, and copy your stereo master whatever it's named to your computer. then you are free to burn it by whatever method you use.

oh and though you can export stereo wav files (the stereo "master") you cannot import them.

hope it's clear enough. i tend to ramble.

Thank you

Thanks Nicole for that info., sometimes it helps to see it in another view. Have a good one.
