Earthworks SRO for acoustic guitar?

Has anyone used an Earthworks SRO to record solo fingerstyle acoustic guitar? A friend of mine sent a recording he did using one Earthworks SRO, a Digitube Preamp, and then straight into some sort of cd burner. The sound is amazingly good, at least to me. I know the SRO is an omni mic, so room sound would play a big part in the results.

i have a pair of sro's and have used them on acu, but like many earthworks mic's they're not very friendly. (don't get me wrong, i like them very much)

i've never recorded an acu that couldn't benefit from a little coluration, and if you have a bad room an omni will be more than a little problem.

very good mics, i use them all the time, but not so much on acu.

Earthworks SROs sound completely awesome on acoustic guitar. A studio I used to run had a set of them and I loved them. They are very detailed, so there's nothing to hide under. A great player with an excellent guitar sounds completely magical through a set of them. A crappy guitar and player sounds crappy through them. They are true and real, as true as mics can possibly get.

I have a couple songs at www.broadjam.com done with the Earthworks QTC1s on fingerstyle acoustic. I would venture a guess that they sound just like the SROs, but with a slightly lower noise floor. Both mikes are virtually dead-nuts flat in frequency response.

I spent a long time and a lot of money trying to get a good, accurate fingerstyle acoustic guitar sound. In the end, the Earthworks were the only things that really even came close to satisfying me.
