hey...
im looking at picking up a pair of earthworks sr71s at a really fair price, around 450 USD. i have done a couple searches, just cant find a lot of people using them. i didnt even see them listed on the earthworks sight... are they not making them anymore? im still in the hunt for a good pair of SDCs... just dont have the money for josephsons or the like. anyone out there using them on acoustic applications in the studio? anyone know how they would compare to a pair of C42s or the Peluso CEMC6s... everyone says they are super transparent... which i dont think the C42s are... not 100% sure on the CEMC6s. im assuming the SR71s would be a step above the mc012s or other budget SDCs in that category... the 603s and what not...

I use a pair of SR-71s. You're correct that they don't make these anymore. They're the best pair of SDCs I own (and I have KM-184's, MK-012's among others). They're a MAJOR step above the 012's and have a smoother top than the 184's. I've never gotton my hands on the Josephsons or the Pelusos but I'm sure they're killer. I do plan on Picking up a peluso 22 47 sometime though.

this is excelent news... do you think 450 is a fair price for a pair?

Just my opinion but yes. I bet you'll love 'em.

Yhat is an excellent price for any pair of Earthworks mics. Just do it.-Richie

I would jump all over $450 a pair for Earthworks mics. Are these omni mics though? If so, they may not be as easy to use depending on what your recording environmetn is and what you plan to use them for.
