we don't need rest!!
this place is becoming waaaay crowded with new people. It has gotten to the point I don't recognize MOST names at this point.

oh well.... pick and choose...

and spring fever!! ....less choosing, I guess

All these folks seem to be graduating to a next level. and we gettin quite a diversity in style and influence showing up too. Some primo stuff.
I just dont have time to listen to everything that gets put up here. and 56k is a curse for me.

Id love to hear somebody do a cover of "Paperback Writer"...

I hear ya on the crowding thing!

I download a bunch everyday and haven't been listening to them. Will they stilll care when I finally get around to it...?

Yeah, what Mixmkr said. What Toki said. What David said. What WISC said. Every day I come here, the whole page is lit up with new posts. It's almost like the Cave, without the bullshit and attitude. A happening kind of place, to be sure. Probably won't be a major problem for what...another year you think? Then what?

the problem is that people don't get as many listens as before. Less replies, less help, and less time to stay on the 1st page, which makes matters worse.

It's almost overwhelming.I listen to as much as possible and reply to the ones that I do listen to.My replies dont carry much weight so I guess it doesnt matter.LOL.The new guys deserve as much attention as the old guys though so I try to listen to as much as I can.(even though Im relatively new myself)
I dont care if I dont recognize the username,if their music is good Im all over it.

Shall I leave then? ;)

No, you guys are right. It's really hard to keep up.

It started going nuts when chris introduced the world to our hidey hole on NPR. But I doubt it'll last. Most folks come here for a while and then go away. It'll clear out and then there'll just be the few hard core people staying around and we want those.

Meanwhile I'm so busy right now I've only been making a point to listen to the guys I know. Sorry but it's all I have time for right now....when I get caught up I'll go back to spending waaay too much time listening to as much as possible but for now I'm mainly keeping up with the core-group of homerecers.

Too wierd

No Way! I just agreed today to do a show with a 3 piece band and that's one of the covers they do! I really dig the diversity of stuff they are doing from Folk to Funk to Reggae, some cool originals too, so I might stick with them for a while.

I still haven't posted anything to the Clinic because my setup is pretty inadiquate, I'm still just learning, and I'm too much of a perfectionist.

The show isn't until May 1st, but if you want I'll shoot you that track off of the board recording. The lead singer is a professional writer too, so I think he really feels that song deep in his soul.

I sure can't keep up. Just an idea, but what about a limit on how many times you can post. Like 1 song every 2 or 3 months. That way you'd really make sure what you're posting is ready for mix feedback. And there wouldn't be so many from those of us who have been around here for a while.

Just a thought.

I think this is a good suggestion, Macle!

Is 1 song per 2 or 3 weeks reasonable? Well, I'll start with that rightaway.

(I feel a little responsible for the heavy load these days with three uploaded songs....I should learn to reply in batch too...too many short posts bumping my stuff up each day. Sorry guys... :) )

Well, I can barely ever listen to anything anyway... but the problem is, a lot of people wanting to get their stuff listened to(ie promoting), and they have no input in any other forum.
I think you should have a minimun post count to post in the clinic, that way you arent just trying to use the people here as a highway to get fans/sales/whatever. I see people here wanting songs listened and its thier 1st post. That bothers me. They have no real interest in home recording or helping any of us out or learning anything. Probably no real interest in knowing what you think, either.
I dunno...

Yep I totally agree.

I wish there was someway you could tell how many posts in each forum a user has made.

I try to listen to at least a song a day.. usually more..

I read the persons post.. If they sound cool, I'll comment.. If they sound uncool, I skip it.. I do always look for familiar names first though.. By that I mean people who at least try to participate sometimes.. Some people only post when they have a new song.. I try to stay regular. :)

----off topic---- mixmkr, I'm hoping to post your song within the next 48 hours.. (maybe sooner because I'm home today)

I'm a lot like Sam. I try to get to as many as I can. But I try to get a sense that someone is truly looking to improve their skills and give them a listen first. I always try to get to the long-timers too.

On the other hand, I suppose I feel a little differently than most in that I sort of like the new "faces." At least a little bit. It can be a bit refreshing. But I hear ya - there are a lot of them. I also blame Chris. I never thought of that, but it's fun to blame him. :):)

And mixmkr, I'll have something up (hopefully) next week. So there will be at least one post from an (unfortunately) familiar moniker.

Just an idea, but what about a limit on how many times you can post. Like 1 song every 2 or 3 months.

mmmm... I dont like that idea at all. Some guys go through spurts in here where they get alot of time and/or inspiration. They shouldnt be limited to share that by a rule.

Besides, I guess I like the idea of simple etiquette(sp) better. I have to limit my listens (cause i too use dial-up) to people that do alot of responding themselves. If i start to see a new guys response on alot of different posts, I will definitely hit his/her stuff.
I dont have a problem hitting new names, but not til after I hit the ones I know. ....and on dial-up, that doesnt always
happen.:( I agree w/ Sam...... You want people to listen??? then LISTEN!!!

Nothing more annoying then the guy who has a tune up w/ 2 responses..... The first, his own post..... the second, his complaint that nobody will check it out...... Then you notice his post count ......2 :D

I DON'T EVEN RECOGNIZE ALL THE NAMES IN THIS THREAD???

(really, I don't, lol)

This is very true. I haven't posted a new song in some time because a few hours after it is posted it is already on the second page.
