i am the one who is who i
i have a question about mixing. . .
now, i record all of my audio into a version of logic that came with my soundcard. when i "mix" my songs, usually i spent a good deal of time adjusting the faders and panning each track. i also use shelf filters on many instruments to get rid of any low frequencies that are not important to that instrument.
i don't really do much more EQing than that on most tracks... if i burn a mix and listen to it on different stereo systems it will sound good to me... if the snare for example is too quiet, i'll go back and adjust the volume of the snare.
am i not listening good enough to my mix? i mean what does "masking" sound like? if a guitar part comes in and suddenly the snare dissapears, that's masking right?(assuming their volumes are similar) but for some reason i never hear that in my music.... if i do, i adjust the volumes.
i feel like i am not listening critically enough, even though i do.. i feel like i am missing some aspect of this, even though i read and read and read.
or am i just so good at this that i don't need to EQ.. i get it all right during tracking? must be.
i don't have any music on the internet at this time, but when i do i'll post on this BBS so that people can maybe give some feedback.
i don't really know what my question is... but you should respond anyway!
