I'm looking into submitting my music to indie music podcasts. The majority accept both electronic presskits and sending them through the mail. Is one better than the other? Do they generally like electronic ones because they are easier, or do physical presskits leave a better, more professional impression?

Honestly, for what you are doing the online version may be your best bet. Although the physical kit shows that you are serious based on the fact that you are spending money and time to get a hands on experience to these people, it is also much slower. In your scenario dealing with more online based companies in the realm of digital media, I would suggest starting with the online information, and at that time make them aware that you also have a physical kit avilable at their request, and that it is not a problem if that's what they would like.
