E-Mu question and another stupid one

First off, I was looking at buying the E-Mu MK-6 Mo'Phatt Keys board. It's in Musicians Friend for $599.99. Is this a good deal? Is this a good synth to get? I definitely need something and I don't have enough dough for a Triton and I figured being this is tagged as being a hip-hop unit it would be good (being I do hip-hop). Any input on that would be nice.

Also, here's my stupid question.

What does LP and EP stand for? It seems as though the difference is length, being all the EP's I have contain only like 6 tracks and LP's anywhere from 10-22 or more. Someone told me that EP stands for Extended Play, but that doesn't make sense because the EP is shorter. Just thought I'd ask cuz it's been bothering me.

Thanks in advance,

Nick Springfield

What up? Yo I kinda peeped how the E-MU MK shit dropped real quick from $1,299 to $599. Shit seems kinda weak to be going down like that . Might just be some popular shit but the MPC's prices have stayed strong over a long period of time. Even the ASRX price didn't fall that fast. I haven't fucked with em or nothing but you kinda got question that. Do you're research on these joints. They seem like desk top sound modules with pads. I think they got a real simple loop based sequencer built in like the Planet Phatt but I never even fuck with that.

I think LP = Long Play and I'm sure EP= Extended Play. I think it's supposed to be like a long maxi single. Funny cuz I knew all this cuz of my old job but forgot it all.

Thanks Lazi. I realized the price drop too. Just a few months ago, it was $899. If anyone else here has actually used the E-Mu, lreply here and let me know if it's worth the money. And if it's not, can anyone suggest something to me in the same general price range?? Really all I'm looking for is new sounds. I sequence everything in Acid and edit it in Cool Edit, so sequencing options don't really matter to me... just the sounds. Thanks.

i wouldnt buy it. i was also considering it but this past saturday i spent about an hour playing with it at gc and i wasnt very impressed.it has good basses and drums and thats about it. no good strings, pads, nothing. at also sounds kinda cheap, i dont know, maybee its all that purple. i spent the next hour playing with triton le and that sounds great. wow , what a difference. everthing sounded so clean, bright and full. if you cant afford that (1299.99) for the 61 key maybee look at the roland xp 30. thats a nice board with good all around sounds.

Alright thanks. I'll look around some more and see what I can do.
