E-MU Darwin

I want to know about the E-MU Darwin recorder. Is it usable? It actually has capabilities listed that I can use in order to have a less expensive way to bring 8 tracks from an Alesis ADAT home from another home studio to mix and play with. I also have a Fostex FD-8 at home, for what that's worth. I know the Darwin can supposedly handle no more than a 4 gig internal hard drive and as E-MU states, "anything above a 4 gig will not be used" but I believe it has SCSI out for external hard drive? How much are they worth in operating condition? No I am not talking about the one on eBay that was a" NOS" Darwin recorder, yeah right. As far as engineering and the do side of studio operation, I am familiar with that when it comes to analog systems and ADAT formats. I do understand the digital concept but I am not yet well educated on that subject and less educated on what works and what is crap.
