E-MU 1820M VS RME Hammerfall DSP Interface

I was looking into buying 1820m when EMU and RME products distributor and pro engineer told me to forget about EMU's and get Hammerfall 9632 instead and then save money for some good pres and later add a high end outboard set of ADC to the recording chain.
His opinion is that while 9632 offers no pres and only two analog I/O at higher price' it's converters sound "sweeter" and more natural plus total mix implementation with great routing capabilities, stable mature drivers, and exceptional support from company. It can be also expanded wit 4 more 24/192 analog inputs and outputs for 500$ instead of adding outboard converter. I went with RME and never looked back. It sounds great, never gives me a headache. Support is great indeed which means a lot to me.

I greatly appreciate that.

Everyone speaks so highly of RME products, I was just worried the converters used wouldn't match up.

One last question, since I was already interested in RME, what about the Fireface 800?
 
The fireface looks like an incredible box:) I have seriously been thinking about putting 3 of them is my studio to start:)
