i just bought the e-mu 1820m, good buy or not?? its still seald so if there are any reasons any one thinks i should return it please let me know.......anyone had any problems with this?

I love mine.

If you're planning to use it with software that only supports WDM or MME, take it back.

If you're planning on using Gigastudio, take it back.

If you're looking playing DVD movies in surround sound to multiple speakers hooked up to the E-mu or to a digital pass through for outboard decoding, take it back.

If you're not willing to learn the included Patchmix software (which is admittedly a little cumbersome for simple tasks), take it back.

If you're planning on using the included Cubase or your own ASIO-supporting multi-channel sequencer and want high-quality recording over numerous channels, including ADAT, than the E-mu is great.

i too was considering this setup ..just read the review in recording magazine and it seems to be a good product...

has anyone tried it with reason??

I've bought the emu 1820 a few mounths ago. I didn't found any troubles using it with reason.

This reminds me when I was about 9 or 10 my folks bought me this big hollow easter egg and gave it to me about a week before easter. I had it in my room and every time I looked at it I'd start drooling, but I knew I couldn't touch it until easter sunday.
Eventually it kind of made me sick to see it so I gave it back to the old lady & told her to hide the damn thing.

So don't look at that sealed pack too long, or you'll end up sending it back

No 1820 here but i got the 1212m same thing except for the breakout box.

I admit i didn't like it at first (patchmix) but then i bought a berry ada8000 hooked it up and recorded some stuff now i love it :)
